Matty Byloos was born in Los Angeles, CA  and is a local artist in Portland, OR focused on paintings of nature, animal magic, the subconscious, and complex systems. Working on canvas and paper, he infuses the natural world with psychedelic, other-worldly qualities and colors to convey the mysticism present in everything.

"I moved to the Pacific Northwest years ago, because I loved the trees. They speak to me, offering connection with something far greater than me. In that experience, I learned the value of experiencing the sublime through nature. Now, I channel that touchstone in my work, offering you the chance to feel it, too."

Exhibitions include shows at The Mozarteum, Salzburg, Austria, Sandroni Rey Gallery, Los Angeles CA, Dust Gallery, Las Vegas, NV, ACME, Los Angeles CA, SolwayJones, Los Angeles CA, Judith Anderson Gallery, Aukland, NZ and his MFA these was shown at the Art Center, CA. He also served as artist in residency in 2012 at the Stichting Kaus Australis, Rotterdam, Holland.
